Pemberdayaan Jumantik Dalam Pengendalian Populasi Nyamuk Aedes aegypti Melalui Pemasangan Lavitrap Dan Pemanfaatan Insektisida Alami Di Kelurahan Banta-Bantaeng Kecamatan Rappocini

Abstrak

Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) is a vector-borne disease that
remains a significant public health problem in Indonesia. Therefore, it
continues to be a priority in vector control programs, as no specific cure or
vaccine is currently available. This community service program was
conducted in Banta-Bantaeng Village, Rappocini District, Makassar City,
involving 25 housewives consisting of Family Welfare Movement (PKK)
cadres, Larvae Monitoring Housewives (Bumantik), and Larvae Monitoring
Volunteers (Jumantik). The program aimed to improve community
knowledge about DHF, increase awareness of the use of herbal mosquito
repellents made from fingerroot, and provide practical skills in constructing
and installing lavitraps as mosquito traps. The methods included health
education through lectures, tutorial video presentations, leaflet distribution,
group discussions, and hands on training on lavitrap construction and the
use of fingerroot based electric mosquito mats. Program evaluation was
conducted using pre-test and post-test questionnaires. The evaluation was
conducted using pre-test and post-test, with the highest increase in
understanding of Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever (DHF) which increased from
64% to 88%, while knowledge regarding making lavitrap increased from
68% to 72%. In addition, participants gained a better understanding of the
benefits of herbal electric mosquito mats and acquired the skills needed to
construct and install lavitraps as a vector control measure for DHF. Overall,
the program successfully improved community knowledge and skills in
preventing Dengue Hemorrhagic Fever
